St. David’s Artane 4-07

On Friday the 11th of October, the second year boys GAA team went out to Artane to take on St David’s and after an intense game, they just fell short by 2 points in the end.

DCC got off to a slow start conceding two goals and 3 points  to no reply. Harrison Hughes put on an excellent display of goalkeeping keeping DCC alive. Towards the end of the half DCC settled into the game with Aidan Barry and William Bell combining to score three goals and one point with Aidan scoring two goals and one point and William scoring a goal. Going into the break, the score was 4-4 to 3-1 in St. David’s favour.

After an inspiring team talk at halftime by Mr Murphy and Mr Dowling, the boys came out fighting getting themselves well and truly back into the game. The lads were much more solid at the back with a great display from Omogbai giving them a foothold in the game. William Bell scored 1-2 in the first 10 minutes of the half bringing them back to within two points of their opposition.

St David’s stretched their lead back before Anthony Kelly replied with a super score. It all came to the very last play of the game where Mathew Lunt dropped the ball in from a sideline and a somewhat controversial decision by the referee blowing up the game with DCC still on the attack, the lads fell short by two points.

The lads walked off with their heads held high after a performance to be proud of.
