Junior Hurling Win for DCC!

On the 16th of October, our junior boys hurling team faced Beneavin Secondary school, in a great match which Donabate Community College won. This match was high intensity from the start with the two teams staying neck and neck. An earlier point put DCC ahead but the opposition followed quickly with a score of their own, but Beneavin faltered, giving away five frees in their own half, which Donabate’s Sean Kennedy put over the bar.

The first half came to a close with DCC doubling their opponents’ score, leaving the half time score at 6-3 to DCC, goals yet to be scored.

Donabate quickly took control of the second half of this game matching Beneavin’s early goal with of their own, within three minutes. Senan Mythen then cemented this lead, scoring another point and goal. The opposition, once again, conceded two frees in their own half, which DCC were then happy to convert, Sean Kennedy and Conor Tighe putting them over to further substantiate their heavy lead in this game.

But with Beneavin rapidly scoring three points in the 43rd minute of the game Donabate’s lead becomes less definitive and when they receive a penalty with only five minutes left in the match Donabate’s defence scrambles. Then an amazing save from the DCC goalkeeper, Aidan Walsh, and a great defensive effort, saves this team and maintains their leading score. A point quickly thereafter and a final goal by CJ Jones really hammers in the nail of the coffin for Beneavin, with DCC winning by no fine margins. Final score 3-11 — 1-7 to Donabate Community College.
