Last Tuesday our junior girl’s soccer team competed against Dunshaughlin Community College in their regional League Final in Ballymastone. Unfortunately, the girls were unlucky to leave the pitch with a very close full-time score of 2-1 to the visiting team.
The girls arrived to Ballymastone in high spirits, with a great turnout from the team ready to go. When the starting whistle blew at 11, the girls went straight in and played a fierce and competitive first half. Many unlucky shots were taken straight from the onset by our strikers and midfield.
The DCC girls kept their energy up all through the first half, despite a few unlucky shots and a goal from Dunshaughlin in the 27th minute. The team kept their heads high and retaliated with an amazing goal from Alannah Geoghegan. Unfortunately, the Dunshaughlin girls scored a second goal in the first half just before the half time whistle leaving them with a half time score of 2-1.
In the second half, despite being behind the DCC girls returned to the pitch with loads of confidence, ready to start. The team was unlucky in the second half despite playing a great game with loads of teamwork from the girls and great saves from keeper Abigail Fogarty. When the whistle blew, the girls were unfortunately left with a defeat from Dunshauglan with a full-time score of 2-1.
After the match the girls were proudly presented with their runner up medals. Well done to them and a big thank you to Ms Collins for looking after the team.
